"Some of the tricks that you're going to want to learn before you learn a front side fifty-fifty on the rail is that, you're going to want to be able to front side fifty-fifty ledges comfortably. You're also going to want to maybe do some front side fifty-fifties on ledges with the motion in mind of grinding the rail. Meaning when you grind on the front side fifty-fifty on a ledge, make sure that you lock your wheels and you grind on this part of your truck. So imagine yourself ollieing up and practicing putting your feet in that grinding position, locking the wheels in and putting your weight mostly above the two rear wheels, the ones that are underneath your heel and the ones that you can't see behind you. This will help you learn how to do front side fifty-fifties better. The other thing that may be useful is if you go to a mini-ramp, and you're able to do front side fifty-fifties on the mini-ramp that has metal coping. The coping is very similar to the feeling of grinding on a flat bar. What it does is it grinds exactly right here, and these wheels sometimes leave the surface, so you're actually just grinding using this wheel and this part of your truck. So that can be one practicing way to learn how to do front side fifty-fifties on a flat bar."
