on 10/19/2009 Despite your great explanation, I'm not coordinated enough to even do a clean ollie. I just about died the last tile I tried. Great "how to" video though.

"The heel flip. The heel flip gets it's name because what you do is you kick the heel off the board and cause it to flip over. It's almost the cousin to a kick flip because a kick flip turns one way and the heel flip turns the other way. So what you're going to want to do is hang your toe a little bit over the board and put your foot on the corner of the back of the tail and extend your foot past the nose and cause the board to go over in a heel flip way. This is a straight flipping trick. So you're going to roll forward, do an ollie, kick your heel off, cause the board to turn over, and then land back on it in a straight rolling position. The tricks you're going to have to learn how to do before doing this are having clean ollies for sure, and then having the kick flip cleanly is also a plus. Although some people sometimes have a knack for doing heel flips and learning heel flips before they do a kick flip. So don't rule out the heel flip if you can't do a kick flip. So basically the heel flip is a straight flipping trick that requires you to drag just your heel over the length of the board. So you'll want to hit the tail, drag your foot up the board and cause the board to do the heel flip, put your foot back on the board and land and roll away, and that's how you do a straight heel flip."
