In this clip we're going to talk about the depth gauge on the circular saw and as always when making adjustments, unplugged. Circular saw is capable of making cuts, this is in the full open position. You can see that you could prob, easily cut through a two by four. Sometimes you don't want to cut all the way through. Perhaps you're, you're just cutting a groove in a piece of wood, or you just don't want to cut your sawhorse in half, that's always a good idea, by releasing this lever you can change the angle of the base plate, and as you can see you can cut anywhere from just a tiny little nick all the way through the full depth of the blade. There are different sizes of circular saws. This one happens to take a seven and a quarter inch blade, so obviously that limits the depth of the cut. There are circular saws that take an eight inch blade. I believe there's even one that takes a ten inch blade. I've never handled one that big, but with this adjustment you can cut any depth that you need. Sometimes you'll cut all the way through the wood, sometimes you won't.
