"So when your collecting your historical blue you might want to consider whether if you'll use this or just use it to display on your shelf. Some customers that I have over the years I do sell transferware and they want to use it they won't buy it unless they can use it. So things to consider is restoration when you buy these things if you're going to buy a teapot, you have to consider whether if it's restored or not. Whether you're going to use it or not because you cannot use these after they've been restored the proxy's that they use are very toxic and it's just not something recommend to do. If you're going to buy a pot to use it I would say try to buy a pot that has no restoration at all on it even restoration on the tips of the spout. Try to buy a pot that's intact these are pretty expensive pots and if you use them you want to use them that way. I would highly recommend not putting them in a really hot boiling water. They didn't have the high temperatures that we have today in the 1820s so I would recommend not using seeping hot water but not boiling hot water if your going to use them. Myself I wouldn't recommend using them but you can, if you're going to clean them use a mild and soap water. I wouldn't recommend putting these in a dish washer at all cause of the heat again. That's going to effect these porcelain's, they are dried, they are dry with age so that there's ability to collect inside the glazes and change the color. If you were thinking down the road you want to sell this collection try to keep it in the best condition you can and jeopardizing the glaze and changing color on it will devalue your collection so I wouldn't recommend putting inside the vessel here very strong acidy things that are really really hot. Because I think it will continue to discolor the inside of your pot so those are things to consider when you're buying a collection whether you're going to use it or display it, and if at some day down the road you want to sell your collection. My advise would be try to keep it intact, keep it clean, and keeping it not to extreme temperatures storing them in the attic or in a moist basement is not recommended, try to keep it in room temperature. Normal conditions are the best to keep this earth and ware from discoloring or damaging in any way. Because you make an investment like this it would only increase if you keep the condition of the item intact."
