Colors of Flow Blue China

"When talking about collecting flow blue, when you look at the patterns and the colors you can see there is a distinct difference between the ages. When you look at the early flow blue, here you can see there is flow and a very heavy blue color pigment on it. When you look at a much later pattern, which is this right here which is probably 1920, you have some guilt around the edges. You have a deep blue but it is not flowing and you have that gold guilding. Gold guilding will tell you that it is made during the early 1900's. It's not the earlier blue. So that is one way to distinguish. Here is another pattern here that you can see. There is flowing here on this blue but this is a much later pattern with a lighter ironstone base. You can tell there is not as much flow in this as there is to this and this is a much heavier ironstone. Here is another example of a lighter ironstone but still an earlier piece, not as much flow. You can see that it has come through on the backside. This porcelain piece is a light thinner than this cup and saucer right here. You can see there is a big difference. Quite a range of these pieces, the flow and the price range."
