"Another example of 19th century clock that I like to show you here is gingerbread clock this is one of the first clocks I bought years ago in an auction and I didn't know anything about clocks but I liked it. Gingerbread meaning it has gingerbread cutouts like when you think of gingerbread houses so you see a lot of filigree and a lot of ornamental designed here, all the way through the top you see some little filigrees that go all the way down. And it kind of frames the outside of the clock really you'll see a lot of times of the gingerbread clocks you'll see this painted reverse painted really detailed little designs. They'll come in many different forms and some painted reverse painted glass but for the most part you'll see this type of filigree design of the reverse paint on this glass. And if you take a look on the inside of the clock you can see it's a medal clock face a lot of ware on the numerals because people will readjust there clocks by moving forward and the oils from your fingers come off and ware the numbers right off the dials. So if you were to set this clock you can hear some of the way this clocks rings, they all vary some of them have a soft sound, some are loud, some are a little cranking of the clock inside but this also which is interesting it has a this is an alarm that you can actually set, pretty ingenious for the period you can set this alarm for 7 in the morning but it doesn't have an AM or PM so. You have to set this after whatever hour it is you want to set the alarm for it's good a little bell that rings behind the pendulum you can see how you set this clock right here by turning the dial so this is a really nice feature that you don't always see in these gingerbread clocks but this one in particular happens to have an alarm, which is unusual but it's a nice little feature. So this is a nice example of a 19th century gingerbread clock."
