"So just talking about common chairs that are out there that are very expensive. We talked a little bit about the cottage pine chair here and the price range is about $40-$60. A seat will cost you, like this, about $50. Another few examples I wanted to show you is this chair here. It has a lot of wear . It's worn down on the bottom. It's very low. It leans forward. It has a little construction problem here but this chair might be able to find in a $40-$45 range. That's a common easy chair to find higher or lower but these slat backs are pretty common. This thumbback is a nice thumbback but the condition that I want to show you here is the patina on it isn't very good. It doesn't have great color to it. Construction wise it's in pretty good shape. It's in great shape. It shows you the nice wear here that we shown you in earlier examples of just putting your feet over the years. It's got a nice plank but the color isn't nice. I mean, when you put it in your house that's something people like to look for is the color and the patina. So it doesn't look good even though the construction is good. It's not as desirable so this is a less expensive arrowback that I would probably price around the $65 range. So it gives you an example of the lower range to these thumbbacks. Another example I just want to show you here. Tis is a chair to with the slat back that the seat is practically gone. It's very brittle. This construction too is sometimes it can not be pretty uncomfortable with your legs. If you're sitting in a small seat chair these (the rungs) on these legs sit up higher than the seat, they dig into the side of your leg. Something to think about when you're buying a chair, if you're going to use it and sit in it. That small seat with this type of construction can be pretty uncomfortable. The fact that this chair has to be made over also is an expenses that also worn. The price of this chair is priced out at $18. It's actually the type of chair that only someone who wanted cane might think about doing. So this is a pretty common chair that you can find at a tag sale for $5. Those are things to consider when you are looking at chairs like this. You wonder why this chair is $5, and this chair $50, and another chair $150. All those plays come into account. Condition, age, the patina on it, the construction on it and just the style. Those are all things to consider when your thinking about buying these 19the century chairs."
