"And down here is a really important part of the clock that you should take a look at when your buying a clock like this the more the paper is left on this clock the better your investment. So this one you can see perfectly it says "eight day clocks manufactured and sold by Jerome & Darrow Bristol, CT." It goes on to tell you about the use of the clock directions one side and the directions on the other you can see the detail of all the advertising that they have in here. So this is a really important piece and dating a clock like this so this is a nice thing to have when your looking to invest in a clock like this. This actually adds to the value, you'll see these holes that are made here when it was originally put up against the wall it could of been put on a smaller wall shelf and in order to stabilize this clock, they put screws through here and bolt it right against the wall. Because this clock is really heavy these weights are very heavy so for it's stability they put screws in here you can see they also added one here, so that's not unusual that's not going to take away from the clock at all. You can see the veneer finish on the outside it's in pretty good condition there's a little bit of chipping on the top but, all of that plays into the value of this kind of a clock, this is one example of an early 19th century shelf clock."
