"Here's another clock that I wanted to show you that early 19th century shelf clock I think it's more than 36" probably 42" high has great painted columns with a black with a gold releaf on it you can see the eagle or reverse painting here and the house decoration with the slided drapes on either side. Great detail with a ties of the bows on the top and the French and the little walkway in front and the picket fence a really nice typical reverse painted seam for a clock this age. Great top piece painted with black and gold releaf on it this outside here is mahogany grained veneer and you can see this veneer does have a tendency to ware and peel a little bit up off the surface. You can see that it's a thin layer that they applied to the wood on the inside right on the surface of the front face of the clock, and you can see it's really really nice craftsmanship and a pretty color wood added to the front face of the clock. And it's divided it's really typical into 3 sections the smaller section here a larger section here and then an open face for your window for you so you can see the face of your clock. And then you have usually an ivory key hole design thats with a little knob on this one that is very typical of that period. So when we open up the clock you can see the reverse painting on the back side you have a dial , your dial your pendulums here and your weights that are suspended on either side. On one side this weight controls your chimes up here, and on the other side which is raised up and wind up as tight as it can this is what works the dials on the clock. This is a nice wooden painted face with gold filigree and the numbers are painted on individually and some you can see a little bit more of the decoration up here, but it's faded from people running they're fingers around and turning the clock to setting it at the right time.
