Types of 19th Century Chairs: Comb Back Rockers

"I want to show you some examples of these 19th century windors sheraton windsors these right here we look at this side chair here which is arrow back windsor and this right here is a nice example of a comb back, arrow back windsor of the same period. Around the 1800's late 1800's early 1800's this is another one with the spindles on the back I just want to show you another example and you can look the same construction of the plank seat is here just like we saw in the other chairs. Same type of plank seat construction but the only difference is you have an arrow back here for a spindle and you have the straight spindle here, sometime there called a bamboo turning but the thumbback's are the same. You'll see that in each of these chairs the backs might vary a little bit it has a little bit of detail in the carving on the back where as this one is just a straight back to it. You'll find this, this will vary quit a bit in the windsors but I just wanted to show you the different types of examples here that we have today with the spindle and the arrow back. Very distinct in they're style and very distinct in what you can use, this plank has a much higher seat on it than this one over here but this is much wider seat as oppose to this one here which is narrow. So things to consider when your buying anyone of these windsor sheratons early 19th century chairs. "
