"So talking about some of the damage you need to be aware of when your purchasing flash ruby or stained glass one of the things you'll find that because this is an applied paint to the surface here that it will scratch. So you'll see this is a really good example of where there's scratching going around here you can see that it's literally taking the ruby right off and it's clear all the way through. So the amount of this type of discoloration on your piece will definitely affect the value of it so something to consider and watch for because you'll find varying degrees of scratching on the surface of these pieces. Another example I can show you here on the very top of this piece of ruby here you can see on the inside where all of the flash is and removed from used. This could of been used for years as a spooner and rubbing up the silver up against the edge of the piece it will cause this type of ware that you see here. So this might of been used as a spooner for a long period of time but you can see there's scratching also right here on the surface and it's not to bad in this piece but you'll find it varying degrees. So those are some of the things to consider here on this goblet you can see that there's some on the edges of the pattern there's some scratching and some loss of color. So this is one thing to consider when your trying to determine which pieces are the right pieces to buy so scratching can definitely have an effect on the value."
