Traditionally a soldering iron plugs into an electrical outlet and it heats the tip up to a high temperature so it can melt the solder using your solder. The solder has a rosen core and it helps to clean the components of your solder. So when you have done soldering and if you have the type that plugs in or if it is one of the older fashion cordless ones it is still be very high. So you are going to be careful to set it down. It touches something starts melting if it is plastic or you want to start of apply something to be careful with. Now there are cordless iron that do heat up and cool down very quickly not only hot when you hold the button to solder. So that is another approach. What happens as you go ahead and heat the solder up and it melts, that’s how hot it needs to be. So you can connect… so you can solder components together. "
