How to Store a Charge in a Capacitor

" Hello! This is Ross on behalf of expertvillage.com. Capacitors are often used in designing filters. Now filter you can think of this like if you are going strain out in a coffee maker strain out the water or you could use a filter to pass through something you want. So you can use at the pass through the good water and just drink that. So you can use these to filter through electronic signals that you want or do not want. That is one of their uses, to show that they do store a charge when connected up to this power supply. I want to keep in mind or remember this electrolytic so it's polarity sensitive. This side is marked plus, I am going to hook you up my plus side to here, no I am not going to blow this up, that is not the idea. I will show they will pick up a charge though. I have a set of three volts, so this just got charged, capacitors charge really quick I touched the leads, nothing happened. I am going to crank this up. How high does this thing go look at that we are going we are going up to 18.6 volts. I am going touch the lead there and see, ooh, ooh, I saw that just spark. "
