Summary: In this clip learn how to put on a chain.
" Hi my name is Sarah Stetner I'm an expert horse rider on behalf of Expert Village. It is a little cold out here so I have my glove and my beeny. The first thing I'm going to teach you how to do is put on a chain correctly. So you have a showmanship chain which is a quarter and then you have a leather lead. You go through the halter. You have to use a buckle halter a rope halter would not work with this. You go ahead well I go under the chin and go ahead and go through this part as well. The same thing that you go through and go ahead and hook it to this ring up here. So that is under the chin. You do pull on it if you rip on it it is going to hurt the horse. As you can see I only do that if he does something wrong in order to back him up but I don't do it very hard. Then another way to put on the chain if you want to go over the nose just gives you more control but you do go ahead and go up through this part again. Just the same thing as under the chin but you go over the nose and it does give you way more contact. See how his head went down. Some people do make him eat the chain as well for like babies and stuff. So I go ahead and put the chain in there mouth which I'm not going to do because I don't believe in that and I think that it is cruel but it is just my option on it. They put the chain in the mouth and they go up through here again with it and then they rip on that and then the horses mouth does open up quiet a bit. So I just go under the chin and that is the way that I use his chain for showmanship."
