"Alright, this next illegal shot is when the object ball jumps off the table, in straight pool. Ok, another illegal shot is when you're playing an object ball and it should jump off the table. This happens a lot, in straight pool and it is a penalty and you will loose a point. So you might be saying the three ball in the corner or the three ball in the side and you hit it in the side and it hits the point and jumps off the table and goes on the floor. The cue ball stays on the table, what happens is, you loose your turn, your opponent gets to shoot the ball from here but this ball does not count, it doesn't stay down, it comes back, it again goes on top of the spot. Now again a referee, if there's a ball already obtaining the spot, he will put the ball behind it. Again, if there's a ball in the way and he can't fit it here, he will come as far back, as he can, and then place the ball here. Giving the opponent the shot, you will then also loose one point, from your total point score and your opponent gets the shoot. So that is another illegal shot, when the object ball, jumps off the table."
