"OKay, next we need to talk about shaft maintenance. Now it's vitally important to be able to play the game properly, you have to keep your shaft nice and smooth and clean so that it's not binding through the fingers of your bridge hand when you?re stroking the ball. Now, to do that, I've found that there's a cleaner that, in my opinion, actually works better than some of the cleaners that are brand specific or specifically made for cleaning shafts. And, what I like to use is, it's a hand cleaner. It's just mainly meant for the hands, but the particular hand cleaner I use has got a pumice in there. And, what the pumice does, is it gets down into the pores of the shaft wood and it helps dig out all of those hand oils, and the chalk dust that has built up in there, and it like, just scoops them out of there. But, this cleaner also has a lanolin oil in there which helps to seal the shaft back up, keeping it feeling nice and smooth. It does a really great job. And then, if you do need to do just a little extra smoothing, use something like this, this pad right here which will buff it right out, keep in clean, keep it feeling great."
