Mancala Rules of Raiding

"Hi! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we’re discussing strategy techniques for playing the game Mancala. Our next strategy technique that we’re going to be discussing is called, what I like to call, raiding. So, if we go to the board now. Raiding is the term really given. In the last segment we were discussing if your last stone that you have as you’re sowing them around the board, falls in an empty bin on your side, you get to take all of the stones opposite that bin plus the stone in here. This is basically the term that we call raiding. So we take those stones and they get to go in my larger Mancala. Now, raiding is a great way to collect a lot of stones in your larger Mancala very quickly. You can see here, we’ve already gained 6 stones in 1 move, so raiding is one of those strategy techniques to keep in mind. Definitely, Mancala is a counting game and as you’re sowing your stones around the board, you’re always keeping your eye open for all different kind of strategies, but raiding is truly one of the best ways to get a lot of stones quickly into that larger Mancala.
