"Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we’re discussing some basic tips for playing the visual perception game of set. Now, before we get into what exactly makes up a set, we have to understand the cards in the deck. Basically, what happens is all the cards in the deck have symbols and different numbers on them, but we need to understand each of these cards. We’ve put together a bit of a chart here for you because each of the cards have 4 distinctive different features. For instance, I’ve taken this card here, it looks very similar to the one on the piece of paper. When you’re looking at each of the cards, basically, they have 4 different features. First of all, we’re looking at the color. Each card is either going to be red, green, or purple. In this case, this one is purple. Next, we’re going to look at the card and it’s symbols. There’s 3 different symbols to choose from. Each card will either contain ovals, squiggles, like this card does, or diamonds. Alright, we’ve talked about color and symbols so far. The next one, we deal with the number on the card. Each card is either going to have 1, 2, or 3 symbols. Alright, so we’re covered color, the symbols, remember we’ve got ovals, squiggles, or diamonds, the number on the card, 1, 2, or 3. Then finally, what we refer to is the shading on the card. This card has solid shaping. If we pan over to our board here, you’ll see that we also have either open shading like, kind of like an outline, or what’s also know as striped shading. Alright, so 3 different types of shading. Once again, we’ve reviewed color, symbol, the number, and the shadings. That’s what makes all of these different cards in this deck distinctive. This is how we’re going to learn how to make a set of 3 cards and what makes a set. That’s what we’re going to learn in our next clip. "
