"I’ve got three words for you. Buy, buy buy!. If you land on it and can afford to buy it, then buy it. Don’t go overboard and going into debt just to complete a color set property. You can usually negotiate later in the game if you need it. The only time you may consider going into debt to buy a piece of property is in order to stop an opponent from completing his or her color set. You should never concentrate on trying to buy one color group. It is very important that you have a wide variety of properties. Consider that if a player were to own a piece of property for each color group, no one else would be able to develop their property without first having to bargain with that player. This puts that player in a very advantageous position. If another player offers and lets you buy a piece of property, it is always legal to buy it at any price from them. You do not have to pay them as much as the property was worth as some people believe. You can legally buy property for as little as $1.00. This does not make good business sense but it does on occasion happen when a player is exhausted and wants to shake the game up a little bit. "
