"MIKE LOPEZ: Hi. I'm Mike Lopez with Expert Village, and today we're going to be discussing the black color from "Magic: The Gathering". And now I'm going to go over Consume Spirit. Consume Spirit is another one of those cards that had been around for a very long time, and it is a sorcery which means you can only play it during the first main phase and/or your second main phase. It is an uncommon out of the basic set which again, which is in the 10th edition right now. Consume spirit is an X spell. Once again, this means that you can pay X amount of mana and all the Xs that are in the little block down here will be replaced by that number. Now, you pay one swamp and one colorless. Now, Consume Spirit is a very unique X spell because you can only spend black mana on this X, which means you can have this one colorless be any color but all the Xs have to be swamps. Bear this in mind when playing this card. We spend only blank mana on X. Now, Consume Spirit deals X damage to target creature or player and you gain X life so this is the basically a life suck that cannot be prevented except by cards such as the enchantments that prevent damage. Once again, this deals damage. This is not loss of life. However, once damage gets dealt, if it does, then you will gain as much damage as you dealt so you will go up as your opponent goes down in life."
