"MIKE LOPEZ: Hi. I'm Mike Lopez with Expert Village. And today, we'll be discussing the blue cards from the blue block of Magic: The Gathering. And now, we're going to talk about Boomerang. Boomerang is two blue. It's a blue staple. It's been around since the beta edition of this game. It's blue; it's common. Again, you have--it's an instant, so once again you could play it during any phase of the game. And its ability is you return target permanent to its owner's hand. Now, what this means is that you can return any target permanent. It does not say target non-land permanent, so if at the beginning of your upkeep, you want to bounce a creature that is in your way so you can attack, you can bounce it back to its owner's hand. Or at the end of your turn or the beginning of your opponent's turn, you can bounce a land card back into its owner's hand, or after your opponent has played a land, you can bounce it back to his hand, or after an opponent plays a creature, you can bounce it back to its owner's hand. Once again, it's a very powerful card. This is like a counter spell but instead of countering the card, it is putting the card back in the hand. This spell is often used with the counter spell in conjunction because you will bounce it back to the owner's hand when you have a counter spell; and when the owner tries to play that card again, you could counter spell the card and have it sent to the graveyard. Very powerful card."
