"MIKE LOPEZ: Hi. I'm Mike Lopez with Expert Village, and today we're going to be discussing the black color from "Magic: The Gathering". And now, I'm going to go over Thrull Surgeon. Thrull Surgeon is a powerful card out of the basic set, it is an uncommon, it is a Thrull, which is the creature type, and Thrull Surgeon costs you 1 and a black to play. Now, you're going to get 1/1 for 2 which means you're probably having an ability, and this ability is actually pretty cool since it is an uncommon. And, here we have a 1 and a black, this is not a tap effect as you do not see the tapping insignia. Pay 1 and a black, sacrifice Thrull Surgeon, look at target player's hand, and choose a card from it, and that player has to discard that card. You play this ability, only when you could play a sorcery. Now, once again, you can only play sorceries during your first main phase, and/or your second main phase, so he has to be around, but you can sacrifice him and get to look at your player's--your opponent's hand, and discard or have him discard a card from it. It's a very powerful card for dominating your opponent."
