"MIKE LOPEZ: Hi, I'm Mike Lopez with Expert Village. And today, we'll be discussing the blue cards from the blue block of Magic: The Gathering. Here, we have Lumengrid Warden. It's a one in a blue; it's a common from the basic set from 10th edition, as you see here. It's a human wizard; human wizard-types have always been around. Now, once again, you paid two on the converted. You paid one and a blue, and you're getting a 1/3 creature. Now, it doesn't have any abilities, but this is what's known as a beefed-up defender. Instead of getting just a 1/1 creature or a 2/2 creature, you're getting a 1/3. He's meant for defense; he's meant as a blocker. He does deal one thing of damage to a target player if you can get him through, but in this case, or in many cases, you will see him used strictly as a defender because he has three defense which means he can defend and live against all the 1/1 and 2/2 creatures that are roaming around, especially in smaller decks like the elf deck and goblin deck. And you can play him on your second turn which means that you have a very, very good defender on turn to, to fight off the 2/2s and even the 3/3 that will be attacking you in the next two turns."
