"Hi this is Mike Lopez with Expert Village. Today we're going to be discussing Magic: the Gathering the card game. And now we're going to discuss the static ability, flying. Flying is an ability we'll see on creatures running the gambit from low to high, from strong to weak. Flying is an ability that allows a creature to go unblocked unless by another creature with flying or reach. What we have here is, once again, I am attacking with the Lord of the Pit and he is a 7/7 flying creature. Now the Tundra Wolves on the other hand do not have reach or flying. So, they can't block. Instead of preventing at least the 1 damage to him, he has no choice but to take the damage. Also remember that he would've taken 6 even if this creature was flying because the Lord of the Pit comes with also, the static ability, trample, which is 7/7. But instead of being able to block, the Lord of the Pit flies right over the wolves and attacks the player directly for 7."
