"MIKE LOPEZ: Hi. I'm Mike Lopez with Expert Village, and today we're going to be discussing the black color from "Magic: The Gathering". And here we have "Black Poplar Shaman". "Black Poplar Shaman" is a powerful card. It is a common out of your Lorwyn block. It's a creature "Treefolk Shaman, "which means it is a treefolk and a shaman, which means it gets benefits from both treefolk and shaman cards, both booster cards; and Black Poplar Shaman cost you 2 and a black to play, and you're going to get a 1/3. Now, you paid 2 and a black, which means you should have at least the 2/2 but since it's a 1/3, you're going to have an ability, and this ability is going to be very good for your treefolk because this card has paid 2 black--no 2 colorless and 1 black, and you regenerate target treefolk. Now, this applies to all treefolk including this one, and you can pay it multiple times; and remember, regeneration has to happen before the creature goes to the graveyard, but this card you will want to play in a heavy treefolk black deck."
