Series Summary

Magic: The Gathering is a collectible card game invented by mathematician Richard Garfield and introduced to the RPG market in 1994 by a company called Wizards of the Coast. Since then, MTG’s rosters have grown, boasting an astounding 6 million plus players worldwide. A typical game of Magic is carried out by two or more players, each supplied with their own deck of cards (or library) with which to do battle. Play progresses as magic spells and enchantments are cast, artifacts forged and employed, and a sizeable phantasmagoria of monsters, animals, spirits and men are summoned…and a chess-like battle ensues.

The game takes cues from classic role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, but bears closer resemblances to bridge or poker. The complex rules and card instructions can challenge even the most avid card-player. One of the most interesting aspects of Magic is the system of colors classifying the different sets of cards. White cards represent order; blue represent knowledge; black is the color of death; red represents chaos; and green is the color of life in Magic: The Gathering.

In this free MTG video series, learn how to use the cards from the green, or forest, deck. This deck has great power and control, and contains many creatures with strong base statistics. Learn how to play to the strengths of the green deck, as well as exploit the weaknesses of the other players’ cards in these short, informative Magic: The Gathering card tutorials.
