"I’m Molly Mackey with Expert Village. Now we’re going to talk a little bit about signed books and their relevance. A lot of times there will be book signings in modern times and a lot of people will get their book signed, these really don’t make it much of a difference. A typical example would be something like this, it’s a good book, it’s on screen writing and this particular one is gift inscribed to, it’s personalized, so that’s the way you would describe it. There’s a difference between just signing a book and actually inscribing it to someone by name. So you would want to, this one actually has a name here and a little wish before the signature, so we would call that gift inscribed, signed by the author. Now the value, it doesn’t really add much to your book, it maybe adds a little bit, it depends, you definitely want to research it, but usually, generally it doesn’t really make much of a price difference. Then you have something that is called flat signed, that is when an author just signs his name on the front of the page, that would be described as “flat sign signature by author”. "
