"Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of expertvillage.com, today I’m giving you some basic tips on playing the game Mancala. Now, in an earlier segment, we discussed the board itself and that you can design your own board if you’d like out of an egg carton and some bowls. Now let’s get into talking about the stones themselves. Now, Mancala is a counting game and it’s actually as I mentioned, a great 2 player game, it’s a wonderful game for kids especially learning how to count. Now to make this very simple with our stones here, you can easily purchase various stones, any kind of stones will do. Whether you find them in your garden or you go to a store and you purchase some colored stones, maybe you have a particular color that you enjoy but what you want to do is decide whether you want to have 36 stones, 48 stones. What I mean by that is each of these smaller containers in here is going to be filled to start off the game with 3 stones, if were using 36, in each of the little compartments, so we fill these up. Now, I would recommend starting off with 36 stones with 3 in each of the compartments in here, makes for an easier game. To make it more intermediate, you might upgrade then to 48 stones, putting 4 stones in each of the little compartments and if you really want to complicate things, you’ll end up putting 6 stones, so getting upwards to about 72 stones that you would want to purchase. Now, as we put each of these stones in here, you’ll fill this up with all of the 3 different stones, so again, we’ll start off with explaining about playing Mancala with 36 stones and then we’ll get into slightly more complicated variations. As you can see, we’ve filled these all up and in our next segment, I’ll teach you to setup and how to start playing the game Mancala. "
