"Hi, I'm Karen, for Expert Village. After you install your invisible zipper foot you want to feed the thread down through that hole so you can run it through and when it catches the bobbin thread just pull something through there to get it so the thread is feeding through the hole and out the back like that. I'll just trim our threads now. That's a better length. Okay, now I'll show you how to place the zipper for the sewing. We have our garment pattern that's been cut out. Do not sew the two pieces of fabric together even though many patterns will call for basting the pieces of fabric together first, for an invisible zipper we want the seams apart. Here are our two pieces of fabric, and our zipper which is open, it should already be open because we just pressed it. You need to know what the front of the zipper is and the back. So, this is the back of the zipper. The front of the zipper has the pull sticking out. Okay. Now we're going to place the left side of the zipper onto the left piece of fabric on the outside of the fabric and the same with the right zipper on the front of the right piece of fabric. We're going to take the right side the front of the right side and place the teeth right along the marking that we have. So it's right sides together. You'll need to know where on your pattern how high up your zipper needs to go. Usually it's a seem allowance. So that the top of the teeth should be placed at that seem allowance. But it depends on the pattern. You're going to have to follow your pattern as to how high to place the zipper. Place your teeth right on that seem allowance and just pin it in place. Now at this point you could base it on it you are unsure of the placement or if this is the first time you are installing an invisible zipper you may want to just base it on and see how it looks. Pin it, and the teeth are lined up exactly along that. Put it on the machine, it should look like that. The zipper is placed on the fabric like that and it looks like it's backwards. If you want to just see if it will come out right you'll want to flip it like this and this would be the way you would zip it. There's the zipper pull. The fabric is lined up properly like that and the other pieces is like this. So this is attached properly like this with the zipper pull fronting face and then when we turn it like this, it looks like this."
