"Hi! I'm going to talk to you now how to use your survival kit. It is one of the most important pieces of your equipment. We have been talking about it for a while now but you've got to know what to do if you've got it all together. Pretty much the contents are pretty much explanatory. The compass is to help you when you are lost or if you need to orienter. You can use it by orientating it to the map you are using. The top of your map is always north. You have your flashlight or headlamp in my case. This works excellently and it is very simple. It just switches on and switches off. Also, you have your whistle which I described earlier. Just put it in your mouth, cover your ears, blow it three times and that's the call for help. You only want to use this if you are calling for help because if people hear this, they are going to assume that you need help. So don't go out on the trails and start playing with it or anything. Matches in a water proof container. Pretty self explanatory. If you need them to light your fire or anything like that, make sure they are in a good water proof container. Lighter, same thing. But you want to have matches for a backup just in case it gets wet or anything happens to it. Twine, if you need to tie anything together. It can also help with some wounds. Large wounds if you need to make a splint or anything. So make sure you've got all these things together and you know how to use them all before you go out on your hike. There is a lot more things you could have but this is just your basic kit. If you have other stuff, make sure you know how to use and operate it before your hike. That way if you ever need to use it on your hike, you will be safe and knowledgeable and be able to stay calm. "
