"Hi! Today I am going to talk about preparation to avoid becoming lost. Before you even start out, there is a lot you can do to take a preventive measure just a few minutes to make sure you don't get lost. Now one of the things you can do is leave a note. Just leave a note with your parents, someone who cares, someone who knows. Just ask the neighbors if I'm not back by such and such a time, please look for me at this place. If you don't have anyone you can leave it with, you can even call the police station and ask them. If that doesn't work, you can even leave a note on the windshield of your car inside. Sometimes you can even check in at the base of some mountains. Also, you have your ever important survival kit. This will always help you if you become lost. The compass can help you from becoming lost as well. In case, just once in a while take it out and check your position with the map which brings me to my next thing. Have a good map. That will keep you from getting lost while you are out on a trail. So if something were to happen, you could just take this bad boy out, open it up, check out where you are with your compass and then you are no longer lost. So make sure you leave a note, at least call someone before you leave and make sure to check in when you get back so that people aren't worried about you. Give them a location where you are going, give them a time, bring your survival kit, bring your map or leave a note and everything will be much nicer and a safer experience. "
