"Hi, now I'm going to talk about picking a pace. Picking a pace is really important because you can wear yourself out too quickly. If you're going too fast you're going to get tired really fast. So, if I hike really fast up to here and then I'm all out of breath now, it's no good. So, what I need to do is just pick a slow pace, just plodding along nice and comfortably, if I'm going too fast I'm going to get all worn out. What if I'm on a nine mile hike. It's gonna take me forever to get to the top because I'm going to be all worn out. See, now I'm all out of breath. So, this is no good. So, make sure when you're picking your pace you pick a pace that is slow enough that you won't wear yourself out before you've finished your hike out. It'll make your day in the woods a lot more comfortable. OK, so now I've picked my pace and I'm a litle bit tired, so I'll hike for a little ways and then I'll stop, just take a drink, have a little bite to eat, not a lot, just a little. Just stop whenever you're tired. Your hike out isn't a death march it's just a nice time in the woods. So, make sure you stop frequently, but not for a long period of time otherwise you can get lactic acid build up muscle in your legs and it'll really start wearing down on you, it'll start beating you up, it's not good for you."
