Series Summary

Stratego is a popular board game that utilizes pieces which represent various classes in the military. Two players face each other in a battle of wit and strategy in an attempt to capture the opponent's flag on the battlefield. Given one move per turn, the challengers attempt to move their various pieces (Marshals, Generals, Colonels, Majors, Captains as well as Scouts, Spies and Miners) into positions of power without tipping each other off. The game is an excellent exercise for methodical thinking, deductive reasoning and logic. Both children and adults can learn and exercise their brains by enjoying this board game that challenges their minds, not unlike chess.

In this series, our expert Stratego player and instructor will demonstrate and explain the basics of Stratego, including important notes and information on each rank of piece and soldier on the board. Learn techniques for successful flag captures, alternative routes and methods for flag burning and attacks, setup strategies, placement considerations for scouts and spies, abilities of the pieces and ranks, and much, much more.

" Hi! This is Ken, and I’m here to today to talk about the basics of a board game called Stratego. Now, Stratego is a fun game. It involves strategy. It’s kind of a cross between checkers and chess and Chinese checkers. It’s got all these kind of things and little bit of risk itself. Basically, this is the box that the game comes in. And basically the object of the game is to capture the opponent’s flag. You have military men, a kernel, a general, a scout, and captains. It’s kind of like a war game and you put your pieces on a board with the idea of trying to capture the opponent’s flag. There’s hidden bombs. Each character or each piece has certain functions, which we’re going to talk about. And there’s a whole strategy for setting up the game as well. Again, it’s kind of a fun game and it does involve a lot of strategy. Thank you very much. "
