"I will now tell you about queening. Queening is a unique feature that only the pawns can perform and what it is essentially is that when a pawn has worked its way up to the eighth rank it can then be exchanged for any other piece. Usually you would exchange it for a queen as that is the most powerful piece, hence the term queening but you do not have to exchange it for a queen and there may be rare occasions when indeed you would not wish to exchange it for a queen and then you have the option of exchanging it for any of these other three pieces, the rook, the knight, or the bishop and one other thing to note about queening is that you can queen and get a new queen even if your existing queen is on the board and inasmuch as you have eight pawns theoretically you could have nine queens running around the board which would be your eight pawns which had been queened and your original queen, it doesn't happen very often but it could."
