"Now there are other ways of responding to pawn to king's four other than bringing our your own pawn to king's four as we just saw with the Alakine opening. And probably the most popular of those alternatives is the opening called the Sicilian which we'll discuss in a minute. But a very common one also, is the French defense. And the French defense is basically this pawn to king's four, pawn to king's three and what usually tends to follow at this point is the players bring out their queen's pawns. So white would then play pawn to queen's four attacking the center, black would probably respond pawn to queen's four. And here there's various ways to go. Two main alternatives, this seems to be becoming more popular, pawn to king's five but the other alternative which also reminds very popular is simply to take the queen's pawn which almost always results in black recapturing the pawn with his king's pawn."
