"Hi, I'm John Olsen for Expert Village. We're going to take a rock and we're going to break it down into a flat knife projectile point or what ever we're going to use. We are going to use a hammer stone. We're going to take this piece of wonderful obsidian from Oregon and we're going to create a bi-face, something with two sides. This has many sides right now. This side, this side, this side, that side. So, we're going to take it down. We're going to use a stone, prepare an edge, and take off a blade. These are all useful things. It can be used in skinning or it could be made into small projectile points, but what we're after is something in the center of this, that's pretty large, and nice. So, I have to setup all these platforms. Right here I'm going to scar this a little bit so you can see this ridge right here. I'm going to take off a flake. I'll maybe even try to draw it on here, just like this. I'm going to set up a platform over here on this back side. Scratching off the sharp edge, so when I hit this, it goes a long ways and if I hit it right I should have a nice blade. I hit it wrong, we'll try again I followed that ridge out, I kind of crunched it right here. That's called not preparing your platform right. So, I kind of messed myself up for just a little bit, but we'll catch right up, right here. There's a nice blade right there, thin, good for making a fairly large point. We're going to have lots of those left over, but right now I'm looking in the center of this rock."
