" Hello! My name is Denise Robinson, and on behalf of expertvillage.com, I’m here to talk about junking with the yard sale and thrift shop in mind. In this segment, we’re going to talk about how to determine the value of the things that you find. So, you take for instance, you found a little figurine and you’re not quite sure how old it is or the value of it. If you simply turn it on the upside and sometimes it has markings on it, and maybe the manufacturer of the place it was made. With newer items, you can tell if it has a bar code on it. Maybe they just recently bought it. Another thing is you don’t have to be an expert to determine the price. You might not know exactly how much things are worth, but you can have a pretty clear-cut idea on the things that you find just by feeling the texture of it, and just examining if things look newer in the type of the materials and things that it made out of, like collectible bottles. Avon bottles are collectibles here. You can tell by the design of the bottle of how old it is. Another thing, like with little figurines, the same thing, if you turn them over you can see tags that maybe seem like you’ve seen them in the stores now a days. You can tell that it’s not very old. Determining the value, it depends on you, because something that is really cheap and inexpensive might be king’s ransom to you. "
