Mixing Powders in a Darkroom

" My name is Jeff and I want to talk to you a little bit about mixing chemicals. This is D76, a very common Kodak black and white film developer. As the package clearly states, this is a 1 gallon mix. You start with 3 liters of water in a mixing jug, pour the powder in, stir it up and then bring the total volume to a gallon. You want to have the water that you put in there about 90 degrees and you want to stir it until the powder is completely resolved and it may take a little while. All your powdered chemicals are mixed in this basic way of starting with about 2/3 of the water of the total volume and pouring in a concentrated powder, stirring it and then bringing the total volume up with water after you’ve got the powder in there.
