"Hi! I'm Jennifer Kimball and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to organize and maintain your book collection. One more important addition to your book collection are bookmarks. Of course, you can use any old piece of paper or recipe to mark your books, but there are some things to be said about having a nice special bookmark for holding your place in your book. One thing that is really good to remember, particularly if you have a lot of guests. If you have bookmarks out, then they're more likely to use the book, rather than risk breaking the binding of the book by holding it open or even worse, holding down the pages of your book in order to keep their place. By having out bookmarks of various sizes, shapes, perhaps mementos from different places you've been to. That's one way to insure that your books are going to stay in really condition. Obviously, it depends on how you view your books and how long you keep them. If you have lots of used mass market paper backs that you read and then toss, it's going to matter less than if you have a collection of hardback books that you want to keep indefinitely. Bookmarks are nice fun items to have. You can keep them on your shelves for more decorative purposes, or you can have them by your bed, wherever you happen to pick up a book. They're really nice. It's fun. They're inexpensive, and it's just something extra to add to your book collection."
