" Hi! I am Jeff Thompson with Thompson Air and we are talking with Expert Village today about hot air ballooning. In this segment we are going to cover the parts of a hot air balloon. Basically your balloon can be divided into two parts, the envelope and the bottom end. The envelope is the fabric part of the balloon, the real colorful, beautiful, part that makes the balloon fly. Here is an envelope. This is the actually the hot air balloon, the fabric part all completely packed away into a storage bag and this is how we store it when we are not flying them, when we get them out, we attach this part to what we call the bottom end, which is your basket, we will drag this out on the ground and start the large fan to fill it with air. This is what we call the bottom end, your bottom end is your basket, your carriage or gondola, and your fuel tanks and your burners. Your fuel tanks are inside and this particular basket has what we call lay-down tanks, these are horizontal tanks that are actually down inside the basket. This basket is equipped with seats that are posted right on top of those tanks, makes it much more comfortable especially for handicapped passenger and your burner set. And the burners are what we literally generate the fire to heat the air to make the balloon fly. And so those are your basic parts of a hot air balloon. I am Jeff Thompson with Thompson Air at Expert Village."
