" Hi! I am Jeff Thomson and we are talking with Expert Village today about ballooning. A hot air balloon pilot will never get a balloon off the ground unless it were for his chase troop and the chase team is the ground part of a hot air balloon flight. It is absolutely imperative that we have a ground troop. Balloons go one way, they only fly with the wind, so there is no way to get the balloon back to the where you have started. Your ground team is there when you inflate the balloon to help you get the balloon in the air and then once your air borne they pack up the ground gear and literally head after you. So that is why we call them the chase team, without them and they are very important because when we come in for landing many many times we need the assistance of the ground team so there they are there. We have radio communication with them while we are flying. When we land they are there to help us land the balloon pack up the balloon and bring us back from our flight and I am Jeff Thomson with Expert Village."
