"Hi I'm Jitin Tuli on behalf of expertvillage.com and now I'm going to tell you about about strategies involving the rook. In the first example black has no defense for this game along the blank rank. White can move the rook forward all the way until it could attacks the black king. Black can not move his king capture his rook or place a piece between his king or a queen it is checkmate. In the second example white chooses the power or double rooks. Here the black has a rook defending the black rank but the white has 2 attackers. As we learned early in life 2 is better then 1. White therefore moves first rook all the way until it attacks the king. Black must capture the first rook but white delivers the checkmate with the second rook. "
