Determine the Types of Meld in Pinochle

Ok you get jack of diamonds, queen of spades, you get an additional four points. If you have two of these you get fifteen points and the, and the, I'm sorry you get thirty points and the values just increase incrementally. So this is called a Pinochle, now if we had, and do we have them? No we don't, if we had for example, I see king, king, king, queen. Ok just for the sake of instruction if you have four different aces, not four aces in the same suit, not three aces of clubs and an ace of hearts but if you had four different aces you have what's called aces all around and you get ten points. If I had the ace of spades, the ace of clubs, let's just say I had the ace of diamonds and the ace of hearts I add another ten points to my hand ok? If you have marriages in the off suits those are worth two points each. So you basically get points for runs, you get points for Pinochles and you get points for all arounds and you get points for marriages. And it's absolutely, absolutely, I cannot help emphasizing it more, essential to know the meld table. You cannot be sitting at a tournament and not know how to count, you can't be sitting in a live game, some online sites will count meld for you but you might want to just look at that anyway. So before you can do anything you determine the types of meld, they are runs in marriages, Pinochles and arounds and then you work it out from there and I could go on about it but you really need to take the time to research it."
