"What about the diamond ace? Well it's a five card suit and chances are it's not going to run away. I would not grab that ace and chances are it could be a valuable communication card to my partner particularly if he wants to get it to my hand and get back to me. What about the ace of hearts? Well it's a three card suit okay. So even if the opponents, the only way that ace can be dropped is if the opponents have the other three and that is a possibility. In this instance I would be inclined and I really would be with this shorty here, to put this ace in the bank. My partner will give me a counter. I would be very nervous if my partner has one of the aces and I can get to his hand, fine, at least we have cashed our two aces. But if I am going to grab this ace I am certainly better off returning this card to my partner in case he has an ace because it would be pretty foolish if I grab this ace and my partner loses the ace in case we don't have tremendous length in trump. I don't really like leading the opponent's trump but this is a very short suit. In summary if your ace has at least four guards with it, hold on to it, it's not going to run away. If your ace has three guards that's kind of a borderline decision, if your ace has two guards or is doubled like this and if you have a gigantic long suit with aces, then get them out of the way."
