"There are, just like any other card game, there are people who play with what we call house rules. For example, when the game was first created there was no queen of spades. There was basically each heart was one point against you. Most people now play a game called the queen of spades, hearts, standard hearts, because it does have the queen of spades as the evil card. Another rule says that you can not throw hearts on the first trick if the deuce of clubs is laid. Again that's just a variation that came up. Some people still play that you don't lead the deuce of clubs, you lead to left of the dealer. They can lead anything they want other than a heart. Some people, again, play that you cant lead hearts until the suits broken. Those variations and of course the passing options which we're going to cover, but those variations are pretty straight forward. Either you play deuce of clubs or to the left of the dealer, and you play hearts can't be lead till they're broken or the queen of spades does or does not break hearts. The standard game queen of spades breaks hearts, deuce of club leads, no dumping on the first trick, and you can't lead hearts till they're broken. That is the standard tournament game with four passing directions."
