"I'm Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com and today we are going to discuss shuffles and cuts. Another cut you might want to learn without the use of a table is known as a pivot cut. It basically looks like this. You just cut the deck that way and done fast it just looks like you have only cut the deck what is the big deal but what you really going to want to do for an overhand cut is hold it with your middle finger on the corner at the top, your thumb goes on the other corner at the bottom, I guess one forth of the way in to free up the rest of your fingers. Your first finger is going to be the finger that picks up a portion of the pack so you are holding like so. First finger comes up and picks up a portion it also pivots the portion to the other side and the crouch of your thumb is what it would pivot into. It would squeeze applying pressure to the thumb in the first finger, move it aside, this pack comes on top and your fingers and thumbs square the pack. So what it looks like is your holding here it comes across, goes in the crouch of you thumb and the rest of the comes over the top and squares it like so. It is important to get this motion down because it is going to be going in some other fancy cuts later on so make sure you are holding it properly and you could do the pivot and swing move in the crouch of the thumb and bring the other half over before you even get into the other cuts that we are going to be discussing. This is known as the pivot cut. "
