"I'm Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com and today we are going to discuss shuffles and cuts. We are just going to move in to a couple of quick ways to cut a pocket cards. The table cut is the most common cut that everybody does. They just cut it like this, pick up the other half and set it aside. This is great there is nothing wrong with it but, as a magician you want to spice up sometimes by doing other types of cuts. Most of the time there is not always going to be a table there for you. If you are walking around party or something showing some people tricks you do your riffle shuffles without a table. So you should be able to do your cuts without a table around and the best way to do that the easiest way to do is just to literally pick up half of the pack from top. Come up here on top of the deck with your fingers on top, thumb in the back, first finger on top of the pack, move it aside, this packet your thumb and first finger pinch this corner in crouch of the thumb so it is like that. It moves in as these fingers moves out of the way and squares it up. So in fast motion it would just look like this. That is a easy way to cut the pack without using the table. Again you just pick up a portion, your thumb and first finger will move it so these three fingers are free to go back under the deck. This fingers move out so we are just holding with your ring finger and thumb as this comes in and squares the pack up. That is known as a under hand cut cause it comes up from under and on top of the deck and it is again good because you can riffle shuffle your cards without a table and just move right into a undercut and cut the deck before you could go into whatever trick your are going to be going into. It is important to learn as least one cut without a table require. "
