" I’m Joe Marshall with expertvillage.com, and today we’re going to discuss flourishes. This is known as a boomerang toss with a card. The way you’re going to do it is you’re just going to hold the card like so, and you’re just going to get used to tossing it up like that. The actual move itself, what you’re going to be doing, is you’re going to be peeling a card off the top, throwing it in the air, and catching it in the pack. Peeling the card off , doing a Charlie throwing it, catching it in the pack. Broken down, you take the top card off, throw it like so, you get this tossing motion down with it. Again, that’s just holding it at the top corner with the first finger and thumb. Your middle finger kind of gives it that pivot, so just throw and release. What’s happening over here is you’re holding the deck, just as before, pinkie on the bottom, first finger on top, middle finger and ring finger on the bottom, thumb on top. Lets go of the packet, your first finger pulls the bottom packet up. Your pinkie, ring finger, middle finger stay there to hold this packet. Once that packet clears, you’re just going to leave that first finger there and you’re going to stay in this position. You’re just going to hold it there. That’s going to be the mid that the cards go into, and once it comes in, you’re just completing the cut. It’s this action and you’re getting into this position. Once you’re there, you can just toss the card and catch it in the back, and that’s boomerang card. "
