" Hi! My name is Gene; I'm glider flight instructor on behalf of Expert Village. Now another thing we teach is called stalls. The first stall we do is called a forward stall. If I bring in the nose of the airplane up, the air speed decreases because you're going up hill. When there's not enough pressure on the wings to support them, the nose drops and you start to fall and you recover. When you recover, you're increasing your air speed, and that again makes the wing fly producing lift. Turning stalls, you do the same maneuver. Nose high, when it stalls and breaks you release pressure on this stick, bring the wings back to level, and continue flying. We practice this so that if you get to close to the ground, you can recover in time before you hit the ground and they have a serious problem. We tell our students you don't want to run out of altitude, air speed, and ideas all at the same time. "
