Collecting Vinyl Records: Show & Tell

"This is a cute thing to look for. These aren't real valuable now, but they are the type of thing that if you put away, they will be in a few years. This is a "Show and Tell" record where they actually had a little machine that you would play the records on and they would also show a little film. Here's what the little film looks like; they are little film strips so it actually fit in the record player. This would be a "Show and Tell." This is Alice in Wonderland and this one is a cute one. I'd say it was put out by General Electric and this one I'd probably say is worth maybe five dollars retail. It also has to do with the good condition. If we look at some more...there are some private companies that put out. You know, holidays are wonderful for children's records. "I'm Gettin' Nuthin' For Christmas." That's just sad isn't it? "Something Barked on Christmas Morning." It's not the doggies barking "Jingle Bells." That's something newer. But this one here is a Christmas song and this is a forty-five. So Christmas records are very nice. Then there is the reading kind that come with a little book. So you play the record and then you kind of read the book along with it, which is really cool. See the illustrations? So this is another, remember the Gremlins? They were fun, weren't they? Remember that little guy? He's collectible too (these little Gremlin guys in the original box). I know, you are starting to feel like an antique because Gremlins aren't that old. But anyway, these little combination picture, reading, record, booklets are an exceptional find. You can still find them. They are worth about five dollars a piece, retail. And, you can pick them up for fifty cents or a dollar. But put them away. They are very cute."
